530 hydrostatic steering cylinder

Got the cylinder off the tractor and could use some advice how to replace the seals.
I see a snap ring of sorts down in the hydraulic line port. I presume it has to come off?
And if so... how in the world do you get it back on? Do I need special tools for this?
Thanks in advance.

There is a deeper groove next to the one that the snap ring is seated. Use a screw driver to unseat the snap ring and it will move into the deeper groove, allowing the piston to be removed. After replacing seals, place the snap ring in deep groove on piston and reassemble. Using 2 small screen drivers and working through oil port, work snap ring back up onto shallow groove. Sometimes it goes easy, but other times you need to hold your tongue just right while saying a few "magic" words in the correct order!!! Good luck.

Thanks Bradley, It worked just like you said and went pretty slick.
It's all back together and working good. I didn't even have to use any of those magic words.
I've got A few other tractors that will get the same treatment so should go faster on the learning curve.
