A progress report after your help which I sincerly appreciated.
Since the fuel was drained from the tank, I decided to take the fuel system a part and look it over. When I tried to blow with my mouth through the fuel seperator with the shut off valve wide open, it was very difficult to get much air through it. Looking in the shutoff valve area, I could see some fine stringey material and some large seeds that were all down in the passage where the shutoff valve is. Tipped the assembly over and with some knocking got three large seeds to fall out. The stringey material I was able to displace with a fine wire. Was much easier to blow air through the assembly after the cleaning. I have made up a cylindrical screen to put in the seperator intake. It is about two inches high, about .300 inches in diameter and I have soldered the top end shut. I have pushed the assembly into the seperator intake and epoxied it in place. The screen is finer than window screen but not as fine as the fuel screen in the seperator. Hope to give it a try in about a week.
Mike I had taken the fuel cap off when it was stumbling and it did not seem to make a difference. John S. you were right on with your analysis.
In a couple of weeks I have some more hogging to do and I will let all you great people if we have the problem under control.
How the stringey material and seeds got in the fuel tank is a mystery to me. I always wipe every thing down before adding fuel and am really careful how the the fuel is handled and stored.
