Leaking Brae Seal VAC-14

Despite my best efforts I seem unable to stop the left brake seal from leaking on my VAC. The shaft has what I would call a very slight wear line, but I would think it would seal up with no problem. Everything seems tight. The seal is new and installed correctly. Are these brakes notorious for leaking?

Thank you,
Glenn F.

couple things you may or may not thought of yet,,
ring gear needs shimmed
the leak is not at the rubber part of the seal
a speedy sleeve installed will take out the wear line
seal/seals installed wrong and or damaged when installing due to sharp edge

Thank you for your response, Tom. Would you mind elaborating a bit on your first two suggestions?

Thanks,
Glenn F.

something you might want to check in the center of the pinion shaft is a plug similar to a frost plug they leak sometims you have to pop it out put some sealer on it and drive in a new one

Donald has one possible leak area already,, one other is the carrier where it seals,, a bad oring there will leak and appear its the seal
it can also leak around the outside of the seal itself, I use a bit of sealant when installing

the speedy sleeve is a very thin hard steel sleeve that renews the sealing surface, they can be bought at any bearing store, you will need the shaft diameter

Leak was intermittent. I looked everything over the best I could. I cleaned up the shims good with 0000 steel wool, torqued carrier bearing evenly & today's 2.5 mile test drive showed no leaks. Put it back together and am going to leave good enough alone.
