A big oak tree fell over last weekend and just missed the barn. These old oaks rot out in the middle and break off. We have had two other big trees come down in the last year. The up side I have enough fire wood for at least six years. Steve

Lucky you! Had 2 silver maple trees at church that always compromised the roof of the church with their lint and leaves. I'm on the board and been trying for 3-4 years to get them down. Finally got the right people to vote the trees gone. They were 25' from the building and 40' tall with 56" trunks. Tree guy took them down last Friday and Saturday. Called me and said we were lucky......trees were rotten with a 3' hole in the middle. Sure glad I kept at them to come down.

A few years ago a Douglas Fir dropped during as wind storm on the 3 car garage I use for a shop. About 110' tall with a 23" trunk. Didn't quite make it down on top of my 310 although a truss piece took out the steering wheel.

loox like it lifted and landed on the truuses,,. did you jack up and repair and regusset the trusses or orip out and start all over ,.,.it is amaxinrng how little damage occurs when a building fails fronm snow load of tornado ,, I know some can be really horrible ,, but of all the ones I have been a salvage team member on , we were careful to relieve the weight with little damage to the equipment below otherthan sheet metal dentsand crease s and broken combine glass ,.if you getaover zealous tractor driver like my black sheep nephew he could do more damage than the storm and barn mangle ,. it pays to take time and be careful , even whensomething loox hopefully destroyed .at a distance ,.
