Case 2590 Issue

I have a Case 2590 that I bought a couple of years ago and has seen minimal use, 70 hours or so in the past three years. I changed all the fluid and filters, using CIH filters and fluids (Hy-tran) when I bought it. I have had no major issues thus far, recently I started to notice a drag while downshifting from PS 2 to 1 in all ranges. Based on researching through the archives I changed the filters and cleaned the spools which took care of the issue during shifting. I did notice some "grit" in the filters, forgot to check to see if it was metallic. Fast forward a couple of weeks, hooked up batwing mower and the transmission oil light came on when PTO was engaged. Everything worked fine except when PTO was engaged, remote valves did not work when PTO was engaged. Looking for help or suggestions of where to turn next, plugged suction screen?, etc. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

The pto operates off the same trans pressure as the power shift. That system gets supplied with oil first, anything left goes to operate 3 pt and remotes. Sounds as though you have a terrible leak in the PTO circuit. I have never seen a pto leak that bad to stop remotes but anything can happen. The hyd system should be tested, but if all works well until the PTO is applied one can only assume that is where the problem lies. Rod.
