Case Hydraulic Cylinder Sizes ?

I have 2 different size Case Hyd. Cylinders. One of them is a 4", and has the spring-loaded bar with the notched adjustments for depth, while the other looks to be a 3" with the same setup. We only ever used the 4" style farming, and I'm wondering if someone can tell me about the other. They both seem in good shape, but appear stuck. Nothing a little diesel fuel soaking can't free up. Also have a Top link No. A 7821 or 7321 I think, was wondering what tractor models this is used on. P.S. Tried looking for numbers on both cylinders but couldn't see any.

Thanks, Mike

Thanks Bradley, do you know what implements they might have used on.? Thinking sickle bar mowers, bushhogs ( stubble beaters around here ), or something light weight like that.

Mike

I think the smaller cylinders are for the smaller tractors/implements and the larger ones are for the bigger ones. Your toplink is probably for the Racine 400 through 830 eagle hitch tractors. Nick

you used what size needed for the implement you were using,, the 4" worked on most everything but say you bought a 282 rake to use behind your VA,,, a 4" cylinder would sure run the rake but a 3 1/4" or 2 1/2" one would move it faster,, there is quite a speed change with size,, I have several of each size in the style you talk with the mechanical stop, I also have 6-8 of the 4" ones with the hyd stop control, a couple pics from ops manuals to show them

I am going to have to get my books out. I had not seen the 2 1/2 inch cylinder but I bet its in my manuals.

Hi Mike. I have half a dozen of those cylinders and use them on everything from CHT 5 furrow plow, 14' disk, landleveller and anything else that requires a standard 8" stroke cylinder. All of mine are the 3&1/4" size. My understanding is that they were manufactured at the backhoe facility.

Bradley: Some where cessna had an uncle worked there. Dad had one on his trailing plow from cessna in the early 60's. Tom

Thanks Tom
