Pto - drawbar dimension... Round 2

A few days ago I asked whether or not a DC had the correct 14" distance from drawbar hole to pto shaft end. As usual I had my answer quickly and it is indeed 14". since my DC does NOT have live pto, I will be adding a over running coupler for safety sake (hooking up a pull type rotary mower). Does this mean that I will need to extend the hitch on the mower to account for the addition of th ORC? I feel like this will need to be done, but maybe I am over thinking it? Please let me know. Thanks in advance for any info!!

You need to be sure that the cutter shaft doesn't bottom out if the front of the tractor goes up over a ridge or the back tires drop into a depression.
I would add the extra length if necessary to the tractor drawbar, not the cutter hitch, to maintain close to the same geometry when turning.
