630 triple range noise

So I fired up the 630 I'm working on and the front gear in the triple range seems to be bouncing around between the two gears and making an awful noise. So I started it without the top cover on to find out the problem and no noise. So I'm assuming one would just need to adjust the fork to hold it in the correct location? Have any of you guys had this problem before?

I have seen it in the 4 speed cover do the same thing,, I got the forks back to what they should be and no noise, seen this several times when people had broken shift forks and had them out of shape, triple would be the same issues

ok new problem the forks are none adjustable on the shafts and the shafts are none adjustable in the basket. The forks are set screws with drilled holes and the shafts are drilled for the detent balls. I'm really not sure what to do now the fork needs to go back it is letting the gear rest against the gear in the front. Any ideas??

yes they are all that way, you need to look over the forks well, I will bet at least one is bent and making the gears grind,, I use a big tight crescent wrench to bend them like a 16 inch one, I set the shift collars where they should be then measure line up with cover ect to see hat one is causing the issue

Had the same deal on a 530 triple range, one fork had a crack in it when engaged in low would let gear rub and sound really bad, found a another fork and took care of problem

I have only messed with the high low in the bigger tractors I didn't realize the baskets were all that way. Learn something new everyday! Thanks for the help guys
