Number 1 main spun, here is what is left of it. Crank is ruined.

Checked it just before using and was only about 10 hours on fresh change of CaseIH oil... Guess that bearing just wanted to go.

My 2 bits: That bearing melted to the crank, due to heat, which is due to no oil. There was either very serious earlier damage or
oil pressure went away for some reason. Be sure you determine WHY this occurred before throwing one nickel at it..... Bearings
don't just fail, there's more to the story

That is my working theory is the oil pressure failed and didn't indicate. The tractor only has a dummy light, it does work but didn't come on before the failure. That doesn't mean we didn't lose oil pressure though. The engine is beyond feasibly fixing, so will try to find a donor or possibly swap in something from a newer tractor.

Ouch!! That sucks!!! Is the block trashed as well? Hope you are able to get her running again. I wonder what pressure the light comes on. I put a gauge on mine because I didn't trust the light.

If you dont know the history check other side of bearing an it should tell if they are standard or if undersize. If standard you might be able
to grind -.010 undersize. No more than that or crank will be weakened.

I've had cranks repaired like new before. Properly welded, machined back to standard size, and the whole crank heat treated for reasonable money. Do you have pics of the main journals on the block, and the crank?

id bet she spun a cam bearing.oil goes through the cam bearings down oil gallys to the drilled main bearing throw which is drilled to feed the rod bearings.sad to know it happened, rare to see a 930 do that

Bearings do "just fail" when they are ran too many hours without replacing them. I have seen it happen several times. Did you mic the crank? I have seen several cranks that looked bad but cleaned up if it isn't blue too deep. I wouldn't be scared to go more than .010 if the machinist grinds a nice radius into the crank. If you find a donor engine of unknown history I would replace the bearings either before installation if you can hear it run or as soon as you know you have a good runner.

Damn and here I thought magic held them together

Here is main #2

Best I could do on the crank, hard to take pictures upside down.

And due to wear the locks on bear7ng shells could wore off also letting bearing shell move enough to cut off oil supply.if you do put a new crank in I'd still make sure a cam bearimg didn't spin.be real bad to go to that much work n expense to have it do it again.who knows what's happened in its over 40 years of hard work

Just noticed color of mounting of one side of block where cap bolted
on.Was cap bolts tight .Just thinking as it dont seem correct.

Wrong! Pump to filter, filter to oil galley, oil galley to mains , mains to rods and cam, cam to rockers. number 1 also has some drillings to feed injector pump or idler gear.
