800 Case-O-Magic Not

Got ole Betsy running good after the restore so yesterday it was time to see if she felt like moving. She didn't. Not even the slightest budge in 1st gear direct drive. Do I need good clutch pressure for direct drive? I have a feeling I'll be splitting the tractor apart. Wish I would have gone through the torque converter when I had it all apart. Where to start troubleshooting?

Check the C-O-M oil. My 800 has a slow leak, and if I let her sit all winter and go to move it out of the shed, it won't. Add a couple gallons of Hy-Trans and off we go. I really should fix the leaks, but......

The original pressure gauge was all rotted away and I haven't put another one on it yet. Tractor was in my Dad's shed in pieces when I finally hauled it back to IL 9 years ago. Brother says Dad had some sort of COM issues with it but the details are foggy.

It's full up with fresh oil. I guess my first question is whether I need any COM pressure at all to use direct drive?

Yes you need pressure all the time except when the clutch pedal is down,, in the com control valve there is a flow control spool,, make sure it is moving freely in the bore,, should be a 1/8" pipe plug at the pump for a test too,, seen a plugged cooler create a no and or low psi condition to valve as well
