hydraulic oil filter relief valves

Well I'm stunned by the price of these hydraulic oil filter relief valves when you discover you need one. $400 from CIH & $150 from Agparts. From what I see they are made similar to a thermostat. I'm in the wrong business. Sure enough, my 1070 needed one as someone failed to replace it upon an oil change. Was this a common mistake with other colors of tractors to not pay attention to what you take apart or did Case not idiot proof this maintenance procedure? I'm actually thinking of buying the next 1070 or 970 I see on Craigslist for $2000 because of bad tranny, etc, especially if the motor runs good. The parts are worth gold.

I am surprised how many of the valves get thrown away. I am sure Case never envisioned there would be so many thrown away. When these tractors were new the owner was told or shown how to do it properly. Now 40years later a lot of people are buying them used and don't even know they have filters. Rod.
