I do not know a lot about Case. I own Ford and Allis Chalmers, but hope you Case guys can help. Older friend (84) has this 5230 he has owned for a number of years and has never had any trouble with it till now. He says when you pull a 15 ft. pasture mower with it for 5 to 6 hours, tractor will suddenly just stop moving. I don't know what you call the trans he has. Two gearshift handles to right of seat, closest to seat has I II III IV on knob, other shifter has 1 2 3 4. This is not considered to be a power shift, is it? Is he looking at problems in the trans or the clutch or somewhere else? Think he said tractor is 93' model if that makes a difference. Any thoughts or answers would be appreciated. I am in East Texas and weather is very warm (mid to upper 90's) and he said problem just recently started. Thanks for all replies. By the way, he said when it cools down, tractor will move normal again.

Only about 50 things it could be. Check alternator voltage first supposed to 14.0 inside cab. When it stops does it just quit or is it gradual.
Their are relays and solenoids all over that trans and diff. does it have a F/R shuttle or F/N/R. When it quits is it both forward and reverse.
Your description of the 1234 lever makes me think its the power shift version. The gear selections will all be in line.
Is he mowing in #3 on the power shift. That particular clutch set is so popular for all round use the clutch pack is prone to fail first.
The relays are under the side panels in the cab. Check and ascertain they are inserted firmly. If so swap around a couple see if that changes any thing. Don't use the light relays as they don't have the proper diode or resistor in them.
That ought to get you started checking, hope you have hair to pull and teeth to gnash. Tom

i'll agree with 4435 50 things it could be,as simple as spring broke on reverser,or ground wire broke at battery,ck.the easy stuff first, after 5 hours tells me something is probably getting hot probably electrical.

Transmission temperature sensor maybe. Will it move again and work fine if you hold the clutch pedal down an inch or so when this happens?
