Case mounted picker

My son is working on mounting a 426 corn picker on a dc case tractor we have the front mount but it is for a 400 tractor I am sure I can make it work but am wondering if some one would have a front mount for a dc tractor. I also have a 235 picker mounted on a dc an it looks like that mounting bracket would work

What is a 235 picker?? I have a 425 with a DC mount that I would trade for a 400 mount. I also have a model IM mounted on a DC. I assume you are in Indiana and I am in E SD so shipping would be a problem.

The drives are different for the dc and picker compared to the drives for the 400. At least that is how I understand it. The dc should drive the picker from the side pulley rather than the pto, so it would be more than just the front bracket that you need. But that is only what I remember my dad saying and not anything I've seen.

On the 425 the pto shaft is already at a severe down angle on the 400, how does that work on a dc with the higher pto? Plus he would need axle brackets too for the roumd axle on the dc.

What is the weight of a 425 W/ the elevator?

It is also my understanding that to fit the dc has to be the pate model with the curbed steering arm to fit in the 426 picker.

The axle brackets are the same as the 400,700,800730,830 but use a round clamp to hold them to the round axle. The picker drives with a sprocket on the pto shaft shaft and a short pto shaft to run the elevator assembly. DC pto shaft is higher so elevator shaft actually runs more level than on your 400. Your operators manual will show you that. The picker will also go on a 511B model tractor and 630. I think those use the belt pulley shaft with a sprocket and a gearbox mounted below the belt pulley shaft to drive the forward part of the picker. The elevator assembly runs off the pto shaft.

I have seen them on older DCs with the lifting bail modified to carry the rear elevator assembly. You need to use the curved turkey roost to clear inside the picker. You also need a wheel spacer to move the left rim and tire out to clear the picker. Same as my model IM the whole picker is mounted to the left to give clearance for the turkey roost. Even tells in the manual to cut the right lite bracket 2" so it doesn't hit the picker when it is moved to the left.

You should look again, on the 426 picker the shaft runs down rather than up and would need to be re-done to work. I don't know what is changed, but the pto shaft will not work as is on a dc. And you may be right on the 5/630 being the ones that run off the side shaft. The 426 picker is not the same as the 425 in many ways.

Well, I looked at the 426 manual and it has the same pics as the 425 manual. The manuals tell what tractors they cover. Main difference in the 426 is in the gathering chains and husking bed.

The elevator drive is totally different too. The 426 pto goes down to the bottom and hooks directly to the gearbox. From there a belt goes up to the fan which is turned 90? from the 425 and drives directly from the pto shaft. Both ends of the pto shaft are special case parts as the tractor end has the gears to drive the front portion of the picker and the other end has the pulley to run the fan.

thanks for all the input guys I have the shortened steering arm already and yes I will also need to alter the drives for the higher pto but right now we are concentrating on getting the picker assembly mounted then we plan on working on the drive the picker hasn't been on a tractor in quite some time and will need a lot of work to even think about using it I will post some pictures of it from when we picked it up and also one of my 425 on the dc oh I am in south eastern Indiana near Brookville
