We took the kids to the Omaha zoo this weekend, going south down I 29 in South Dakota, median is mowed out and shoulders on the outsides mowed about 12' out no trees down to the fence line. Some of the ditches were mowed and hayed, all weed free as far as I could tell. We crossed into Iowa and median is full of weeds and overgrown grass, outside lanes have about an 8' rotary mowed, and the rest of the ditch is overgrown grass, weeds and trees, most of the way down to Omaha. Are all Iowa interstates maintained that way, seems kind of odd they would just let the trees and weeds overgrow the right of way? We don't travel much, just never seen right of ways that weren't maintained before. Once we passed into Nebraska, there right of ways seemed to be mowed and cleaned, for the short distance we were in Nebraska. First time to Omaha, very impressed, friendly people, great downtown and historical area, great trip all around.
