power steering issues again

Went to use my 1070, after sitting about 2 weeks, the power steering don't work. I started it up only to move it to make room in my shed but now can't even do that...Any suggestions what to look for? I was in the process of changing the hydraulic filter but I can't get the nut loose from the canister. Could a plugged filter be the culprit? Fluid is up to normal mark & this is an 8-speed. Thanks

I'm going to guess that you probably have no hydraulics whatsoever. My guess is that it is the A30915 Ring Seal between the pump & intake tube. Simple fix.

So this means taking the pump off the back, some disassembly & replace the seal? From the parts book it does look like an easy fix. Thanks John. I may also give you a call. You helped me with my front end bearings & seals. Thanks again

No disassembly, other than the external lines. Pull the pump back, replace the seal, re-install. I'm sure that is your problem. One easy test you should try 1st, is to start the tractor again, and if no P/Steering, try the Hydraulics. If the Hyd's work, & no P/S, then I'm wrong.

I pulled pump off & found o-ring was rolled up sideways some & kinked. I was so happy to see a problem that I re-installed the o-ring on the inlet tube & put together & started tractor with no power steering still until I cracked the upper small line on pump & took a oil bath. The oil came out when the nut was almost off...never any bubbles then I got soaked. Anyhow, then I had steering but half way into getting baler into shed the steering took a turn for the worse & got really hard to turn & no brakes now. I cracked line again & back to normal. Maybe a lot of air still in system? 3 pt still don't move. My remotes worked but when the steering got hard the remotes didn't work either. Some things I'm getting solved but yet I'm still getting problems. I'm really stumped here.

I think the culprit is that seal. It is not a conventional "O" ring. It is a square cut, round rubber seal that fits into a machined area on the front of the pump.

Have you had the back end off and checked the suction screen? If it is plugged it will cause so much suction that it will suck the pump suction seal in. It should not loose suction while it is running.

John I believe you are thinking of of the 30 series seal. 70 series use an O-ring that is easily cut when installing the pump.

So it is!! I just looked at a new pump, and they send 3 different size "O" rings with it. Several years ago I had the same problem with our 1175 that gg1170 is having, & I was thinking that the seal was square cut. I must be losing it.

after reading the above, I am having intermittent issues with my 770 with power shift, periodically I lose all hydraulic functions, then will work again, for an hour or more. then lose hydraulics again, the pump was replaced before I purchased the tractor at auction 2 years ago. maybe oring issues are my problem
