Hydraulic Oil question

I think most agree Hytran is better for
your power shift tractors and COM's
than JD oil but does it matter much on
a 1030? My brother has all JD
equipment for his modern farming and a
JD bulk oil setup in his shop. Does
anyone see any problems with running
the JD hyd oil on this tractor? It's
used for pulling a hay rake or double
sickle Rowse mower in summer only. No
loader or winter use.

We always assumed the wheels would fall off and a lightening strike would be imminent if any liquid was poured from a container with a picture of Bambi on the label into a Case machine. It is indeed a very high risk endeavor. I would proceed with extreme caution.

It pains me to say....but that JD stuff is good quality and will work famously in your 1030. Just to tell anyone! :0)

A tongue in cheek response I appreciate. But I was a little concerned about the weight of the oil for one
since someone on here said the JD oil was a 20W instead of a 10W oil
and for two, something about the JD oil not being very friendly to o-rings and seals. I don't think a 1030
is sophisticated enough to have anything to worry about since it only has a gear pump instead of a piston pump
for the hydraulic system but I just thought I'd ask.

Because of my brother and his JD fetish, we ended up putting JD hyd oil in our 1660 CaseIH combines back in the day.
We did have problems with failure of o-rings and hydraulic system filters couldn't catch it all. Constant problems
with valves sticking after that with bits of rubber. The problems migrated from one system to another for two seasons.
The only way we got out from under that nightmare was to trade combines. Could be just a coincidence but I still blame
it on the oil.
