Is Desert Sunset and Desert Sand the same color? NAPA has Desert Sand, but not Desert Sunset like Case does. How good is the Case enamel? Thanks, Don

Don, they are two slightly different colors when painted but once dry they were very hard to tell apart, we had Both CASE spray cans of it at the shop in 67 or 68, I and have heard many others say the CASE paint is the only way to get the right color, I cannot say as I only use the CASE paint in that color, as far as quality, it has always been very durable in my dealings with it and was made to be in grease fuel ect,, just my thoughts

I only use CNH paints. Much cheaper and and I like the way it flows when I paint.
You have seen the pics of my tractors and the color holds and doesn't chalk out, or fade after a year in the elements. I DO add a hardener to the CNH paint.
Yesterday, I went to my welding supply and auto paint supplier for a quart of non Case colored paint for the interior of the 931 cab. Cost of that quart flabergasted me.

I should have added that all the "Desert Sunset wan-to-bees" seam lighter and have a faded apearance when applied. They just don't POP like the CNH DS does, and I prefer Power Red over Flambeau, for more contrast.
I'm sure this will stir the pot of stew!!! To each his own.

I chose power red for my 430s and the 800 and desert sunset is a MUST ,.i got my paint from my friendly case ih dealer and used a little hardener , paint went on so smooth and looks great 5yrs later , about a yr later, my nephew and I used a acrylic paint on his 830, not sure where he got it ,.the color is nice and remains consistant for being outside a lot ,.but it is a orange peel finish , but is thick and hardy . AND , I fretted all the while we were shooting the stuff on,. don't think we will try that stuff again ,. even though it has held up well ..the acrylic paint also seems to magnatise and cling to dust ,.

Why buy something that "matches" when you can buy the real thing ? Add hardener and you will still be happy with the finish and color in 15 years. My 2 cents. Paul
