1957 CASE G 310W Clutch sticking

Hello,
I have a 1957 CASE 310 loader/backhoe that exhibits this symptom.
When I let the clutch out while in gear the tractor just sits, if I hit the clutch pedal hard a few times it suddenly grabs and goes. A few years back (but not many hours ago) I installed a entire new clutch assembly. I have adjusted the linkage and it makes no difference. I am thinking maybe the throw out bearing is getting hung up on the shaft?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Bob

(quoted from post at 06:00:03 05/28/16) That is the most likely scenario. Did you use any of grease on the stub that the throw-out bearing rides on?

I did put some grease on it during reassembly several years ago.
I purchased a little 3' boroscope camera with leds lights for $10 on ebay and it hooks up to my smartphone, I plan to snake it in the bell housing thru the inspection port and see if maybe I can see what is going on and hopefully squirt so grease in the needed area. Wish me luck

I can't imagine the throwout bearing hanging up against the opposing force of the pressure plate lever springs. Been a few years since you've been in there, to refresh your memory here are a couple pics of a 1956 310 single plate arrg't.

The throwout bearing is constant running, the spring keeps the bearing up tight against the pressure plate levers so the notch can catch and keep it rotating. For this pic the toothpick is jammed in there to compress the spring and show the normal running position of the bearing on the hydraulic pump drive shaft.

Good luck, I'll be very much interested in what you find.

(quoted from post at 06:30:31 06/15/16) Awesome... This will help
It may take a few weeks for me to take a look
Take care

Joe, If the clutch is engaging, could the shuttle trans be slipping in some way?
This problem might have started when I changed the trans oil a few years ago, when I put the wrong oil in the trans, I have since put the correct oil.

I don't see any way that the throw out bearing can hang up causing the pressure plate to release the friction disc.

I was leaning toward the problem not being in the engine clutch but further down the drive line, like it may take a couple of sharp inputs on the drive shaft by the clutch to initiate movement in the shuttle? I don't know if this possible or not. I have virtually no experience with shuttle, I would be looking to mEL or one of the other shuttle experts here.

Joe

Thank Joe, I was thinking the same thing regarding the pressure plate, I will try to reach one of the shuttle experts

I is now fixed... the clutch return spring was weak and I replaced it. then adjusted linkage for proper freeplay and it is working .many thanks
