I know several of the Case guys that post here are from South Dakota. Do any of you happen to remember a man from (I think) the Watertown area that played piano accordion and also taught others how to play it?

He traveled with another guy (buiness partner?) throughout the area teaching and selling accordions. They visited my home area in North Dakota and I studied many lessons from him. This was in the 1950s when I was in high school. I can still play many of the tunes that I learned from him.

Thanks

A man by the name of Leo Fortin played accordian and gave lessons. He also had a band and played at all the local nite spots. That was in the 60s.....not sure he's the one your thinking of. He lived in Watertown, SD.

something doesn't add up here. The write up says he was born in 1906 and died in 1984, but the article says he died at age 74. 1906 + 74 is 1980 which doesn't match the "1984" death date.

I took it as meaning he died where the article says "at 74 another career has ended". Since the horns are emphasized, did he really play piano accordion too, but only for fun and not with a band?
