,.. ok guys that know ,, I put 1370 rod on the spot about using jd 303 oil to top off the 1070 p -shift .. I have heard that is ok from a few on this site long ago ,,. however, case hy tran should never be used in a p-shift 4020 deere ,. something about deterioting brakes and clutches if water is also present,. would any of you fellas care to weigh in ..

303 is a heavier weight oil. I use it in the power steering on many of the tractors here. I don't use it in the power shift tractors or the 30 series trans. or hydraulics. We get to -20 degrees or below in the winter.

Hygard is a 20 wt oil while hytran is a 10 wt. I have been using the Hygard in all my tractors from DC's to 94 series and have never had any problems. I really like the heavier oil in the heat of the summer when haying. The hytran caused trouble.

I posted below a couple days ago about my 830 pumping the Case-O-Matic into the rear end in about two hours use, I changed out all the fluids to Hy-Tran Ultra about 50 hours ago, that was what was recommended on this forum. Before that I was using Case TCH fluid and never had any problems, TCH is still available from the Industrial Dealers. I'm going to get a pail of TCH and put that in the Case-o-Matic and see if it will get any better or maybe even heal up.
