Starting 1930 Case L

Last Fall (Maybe late October) I ran the L on gasoline for 15-20 minutes after an easy crank start of 4 cranks. Ran just fine, and I shut down for the winter. This past Friday a young friend came by and we were going to start it up (on gasoline). Cranked our brains out and couldn't get even a single good POP! Ok all you more experienced than I Case guys. What should I be checking to get this engine started again?

Thanks, Steve

Check for spark. Might have oxidation on the points in the magneto. You will need to remove the back cover on the mag to see them. Clean point surfaces and replace cover and fire it up.

If it's got fuel, spark and compression it ought to run, my gas tractors sit over winter with ethanol gas in them and usually start right up when I need them, I have seen gas go flat and an engine won't fire on it so fresh gas can't hurt.

I know I have that problem with my L from time to time after sitting through winter. If it doesn't run by about the sixth pull of the crank, I go get another tractor and belt start it, or pull start it. After it's had an opportunity to run and warm up for the first time, from there on out, it'll run on the 4th pull of the crank.
