VAC Eng Oil Filter interfers w throttle rod?

I am putting my 51 VAC back together and it has a spin on eng oil filter. It had a Napa filter and I have another VAC filter housing with a carquest filter. The diameter of both filters seem to be too large? The throttle linkage rod rubs on the filter. I think the original filter from Case was a Fram? Is the Fram a smaller diameter? If so, what is the Fram part number? Thanks, Dick

The 3 most common bypass system oil filters that fit Case VA, 300 & other number series tractors:

Napa 7011 (Wix 57011) ... H = 4.858" x W = 3.54".

Baldwin T100 M ... H = 4-27/32" x W = 3-17/32".

Fram C159 ... H = 4.86" x 3.55".

(quoted from post at 19:25:56 06/11/16) Thanks Joe. I will see what I can find locally. Dick
have read this form for many years but this is my first post . I replaced the block in my vac I use on a 6ft woods belly mower with the later block when the original block developed cracks in the lower webs between the cylinders. I have the same problem. I have realigned the rod till it works but have not fixed it right.

There is not much to show. I used the same linkage that came with the later block but don't remember which oil filter housing I used. Now you have aroused my curiosity I will check the other housing tomorrow and reply.

The original block was a vt149. I replaced it with a vt328 and used the filter housing from the vt149 block and replaced the one piece throttle linkage with the two piece linkage and the wide bolt pattern mounting block. I found the filter housing from the vt328 block and compared it to the vt149. The filter on the vt328sits flush with the outside of the mounting flange and the vt149 is about 1/8 inch from the face of the flange giving it about 1/4 inch more clearance. When I change oil I will probably change housings. Hope this helps, also does anyone know the difference between the two blocks besides the throttle linkage bracket.
