Might Buy Case 530 ????

I am going this evening to look at a Case 530. I will be using the machine for general loader work around the house, food plotting and small "farming" (couple acres/hobby), and jack pine tree work. Any opinions on this machine? Anything I should look for? I do know it has transmission PTO so I will get an overrun and slip clutch. It would appear most parts can be found but are somewhat limited and expensive.

For comparison, I am also looking at a Ford 641. The Ford is about a thousand pounds lighter with 3 more hp. I am leaning more towards the Case at this point because it is heavier with a better loader. Also has power steering. Both are priced about the same.

Any input is appreciated.

Weight and PS is a big plus especially on a loader tractor. Not only that, working small acreage with lots of turns and tight spots gets real old with armstrong steering. Make sure the PS actually works on the 530 if you are going that route. 3 more HP is meaningless.

I think you have the PTO drive systems for the Ford and 530 confused. The 530 should have either a continuious pto with a hand clutch to control gear shifting and ground travel, or if it has a COM tranny it has an independent PTO. No need for an overrunning clutch on either trans option. If the 530 has a mechanical shuttle or a straight 4spd. then an overrunning clutch may be in order. The 530 will run circles around the Ford in all respects, and parts are not hard to find. The 530CK has been a #1 selling TLB.

Scratch this thread. Looked at tractor. Didn't have a pto and one of the 3 pt arms was missing. Rack with 55 gallon drum of concrete was welded to frame on back. Something you would have thought would be mentioned before I look at it. Wow.
