1370 hydraulics

I posted on here several weeks ago that my 1370 only had 1600 psi hydraulic pressure on the remotes. I put a shim under the relief valve spring and that put it up to 3000 psi. What I didn't do was get a smaller shim to lower the pressure to the factor spec of 2200. I been using it to spray and disk and had no problems. I just make sure I'm easy on the remotes and don't hammer on it when cylinders bottom out. My brother was helping me today disk and he used it about 2 hrs and It lost all but 500 psi on the remotes. Power steering is fine, ps shifts fine through all gears and it still pulls that 25ft disk just fine. It just won't raise it up. I took out the relief valve springs to see if one may have broke but they appear to be fine. I tested the hydraulics in all speeds of the power shift including reverse and with the inching pedal down, no change. I talked to a guy today and he thinks my relief valve is malfunctioned somehow. Any suggestions on what to do next would be much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

There is a oring approx. 5/8 in diameter under the pilot relief, is that in and in good condition? I believe the part no. is A17526 if my memory serves me correctly, Rod.

Thanks for the reply Rod, I did find the o-ring you mentioned and it doesn't appear to be broken, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's in good condition. Like every other part to the valve, it looks well used. I am confused because when I look at the parts book, it shows more pieces in there than I can find. I've pulled the whole remote valve body off the tractor now so I could get better access to the relief valve. It shows two more O-rings that I can't find and item number 89 wasn't in it either. The book shows up to four shims also and mine didn't have any. I also couldn't get the last part, the sleeve that's all the way in the bottom that the piston of the pilot relief goes into, to come out. Should that sleeve come out or do I need something special to pull it out?

The amount of shims is quite often different that is why you need to test and then adjust accordingly. Approx. .010 shim will raise press 100 psi. The sleeves does pull out, I find using a snap ring pliers that expands when squeezed can be inserted to lift them out. The lower corner of the sleeve has to be free of nicks as well the bottom bore it seats into. Sometimes they are damaged and need to be replaced. Finding the area the relief is leaking can drive you crazy without the use of a hand pump which makes it possible to test and adjust the valve off the tractor. Rod.

Thanks for the info. I used a small 90 degree pick that I hooked in the hole in bottom the sleeve and pulled as hard as I could pull and it wouldn't budge. I'll give the snap ring pliers a try. I'm taking the whole valve body to Little's Farm Equipment in Lynchburg, OH tomorrow morning. They said they would look at it first thing if I brought it in and they have several parts tractors as well as some new parts. One of the mechanics told me the 1370 was his favorite tractor and he had worked on them for 40 years so I hope they may be able to shed some light on it for me. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks.

Good to hear you can bring it to someone that knows the CASE tractor. If the sleeve happens to be stuck in the bore that could be the problem. Rod.

So I just left the shop and the guys gave me all new orings and some used shims and springs. He thinks it will work great after I put it back in. He didn't seem concerned that the bottom sleeve wouldn't come out. Should I make something to pull it out or try it like it is?
