I bought a case 1175 lately ran good the steering was hard turning it had trouble lifting implements so I removed remote service valve thinking it's relief valve problems it's orange seemed pretty wore so replaced it and checked shims there was only one shim can't remember but think it was .05 not enough from what I've read so took it out and farm boy,d it and put a dime under it. It worked great for the implements lifted great but did not change steering. So I toughed it out and plowed on. Till I lost all hydrolics made it to the barn took off hydrolic pump. It locked up alright and twisted the shaft right at the coupler on the shaft that goes through the pto clutch. I've dissassembled and do not know how to remove the shaft that goes through the pto clutch........ help please

the reason it did not help the steering was you have a separate system for the power steering and brakes or in other words shimming the remote does Nothing for the steering/brake reief,, as for twisting the pump shaft,, I would bet you went Way beyond what you needed in shimming the relief and you toasted the pump due to dead heading, the relief needs set at rated max psi,, no more than 2250 psi, and even if this is not your issue you have something deadheading the pump to due that damage and it will do it again unless you find the cause

The dime was .055 I'm not a mechanic so not familiar with term dead heading
How about that shaft running through the pto clutch any idea can it be driven out one side or the other

Yikes, I can say for sure I never seen one do that,, it may have gotten something through the screen and locked it tight,,and so that may or may not have been due to the dime shim,,, dead heading it when the relief is set tighter than the pump body can handle, that shaft should come out the back,, was you using the hyd when it did that?

Yes I was lifting the chisel outhe of the ground held the remote lever a little longer than I ought to have maybe three or four seconds too long. But the steering has been really weak since I bought it in March. Ya think there was already a problem in the pump because of that? That shaft seems pretty snug in there I'll try to put a bigger hammer on it
