I figured I could post this here as it is a IHC and now a cousin.

But I was over in the truck section of YT and found this truck, and we use to have a truck similar but older, think ours was a 1957,it had a grain box on it, and could haul around 600bu of Wheat this one is a 1966, but would love to own it

Also if you enjoy old trucks, or IHC trucks you will enjoy the link.

But if you have a favorite, why not post it and show her off, no matter what it is

1963 International R-190 was my first 18-wheeler trucking job. Looked just like that one, but was dark green. 549 gas engine and 9 spreed tranny. It was known as the "Old Green Hornet".

I have several old trucks that I like. I like the Cannon ball GMC of the early 50s along with the White 3000 cab over. I also like the IH Emeryville of the early 60s.

Maybe looking like this one that was on a auction up in Canada I think not to long ago. This 190 of course has been converted to a farm truck.
You must have put lots of miles on that truck.

If I remember correctly, our 1957 190 at one time had a browning in it, but it was taken out. And also most guys that worked for us didn't care to drive it. I did, I thought it handled well for her age, and man, it was a solid old trooper.

Because of my experience with FORD Trucks, I have to take issue with that. I drove Fords for several employers, and own an L9000. I have found them to be tough trucks. 50 years ago when the heaters & defrosters in most trucks were less than adequate, the heaters & defrosters in a Ford did the job well. Very important here in the Northeast.

Best looking truck ever is the venerable Model B Mack, I'll try and get an old snapshot of one I owned back in the 60s.......other wise I'm a flathead Ford V-8 nut and here's a couple of projects, my '36 ton and half with my '36 pick up frame in "storage" Cab and box are done, I'll tackle the frame this winter. Studebaker probably was the class of the lower priced farm trucks of the 40s and early 50s very popular in my neck of the woods. What a grand ol company. The politics leading to their demise make the Case merger stuff seem tame...........

I'm a fan of the old style Dodge Power Wagons and FC Jeeps for farm use. For over the road hauling I love the look of the old Macks and IHCs.

Holy man that is a great looking truck! I had one same year in my younger years, course didn't have the money to fix up, (loved the key on the column and locking!)

I sold it, the last I saw it had became a trailer, hauling wood! :(

You have a keepsake there!

What a nice idea to start this topic. Ande. I just can't agree with you on the old B61's being the best looking or the best any thing else. I had to drive those things when they were new, I ran Buffalo ,Binghamton every night for 3 years. For one year I had a new B75 with a B model cab and a 711 engine with a blower on it. .An old F8 Ford would out run it. and I hated them. Today at a truck show I kinda like to look at them and remind myself what a life of misery was all about. I started out on a LJ with the 672 Lanova engine and a duplex, Now that was a beautiful truck, nice big cab with a sleeper. Wish I could of had one of those brand new. I retired off a new Mack ,Vision and let me tell you that was a beautiful truck. It had a walk in sleeper and TV and Tape player and CD player you just couldn't fault it. Yes believe it or not I gave up a Pete for that Mack Vision. Jack

I agree with you on the power, There's a reason any one you see today is a re-power. I just think they're good looking, fenders, hood, real grill, etc

My 1933 Intl with a 9in rearend,18in wide back 15in tires,alldriven by a straight 8 Buick and 3spd chevy tranny,sittin on a homebrew 2x4 frame! Hoss

Like to have this Dodge too, out for a drive,,,, on a Sat PM and a few "pops" with me.....

I have a 1949 Chevy 3600 3/4 ton and a 1991 Ford F 150. Will try to post their photos later as it's getting late.

What a great topic - I could type for hours on this.
Learned to drive on a 38 Chevy 1 1/2 ton yarding in our fire wood for our large old family home as a kid,and moved the 27 Federal that was the loggong truck for the family lumbermill a couple times.Thought it was real cool. Then at 15 spent a summer driving a chain drive Mack in a granite quarry in Westford,MA. loved the low gear for backing up to the duster above the crusher, brakes weren't too good and one of the chains broke took a fast ride into the pond (safest place to stop without hurting someone. Thay had it running the next day. Didn't like the army trucks in Nam. Came home drove an Emeryville cabover w/220 Cummins over the road for United Van lines for a year-it rode pretty good. Next assigned an IHC CO4000 (first series of the Transtar cab w/no frills at all)decent truck. Then DM series Macks hauling gravel with 238 maxidynes 5 speed with 3 speed Aux moved a mountain. Still have my 47 Dodge(sitting in MA that I hauled hay & fire wood in the70s to feed my family during the energy crises loved it or maybe was proud of how it just kept working even though I overloaded the snot out of it 3 cords of green oak per load. Then I went into freight -Bubble nose whitew/gas for peddleing boston,B model macks for whatever they need it for,a couple 3000 whites. Than came old faithful a 78 U model Mack the same as the one in the picture purchased in the same bunch by the company. We ran eastern NY, northern NJ to Philly and all of New England with them. When they got them there was no spoiler than they added the ones shown-2 MPH faster w/a Beer load, and marked fuel savings. I drove it over 1,5000,000 miles the first engine broke a crank at 2,250,000 never out of the chassis w/ a couple in chassis overhauls. There were other trucks I drove for different companies during long layoffs Freight liners-KWs-Autocars-Brockways-REos and others. Tough engines (238maxidynes w/5speeds no ac) Fed my family many meals and paid for my home that the 47 Dodge hauled the wood for. Which one did I like the best? All of them they played an important in my life for many years. I was "truck happy" and loved them all for different reasons.

I would like to add -the "yard horse there in 1972 when I started there and today it is still working in a scrapyard in New Hampshire.

Bill, sure enjoyed your pictures and history, yes you have logged the miles! I could see how you would get attached too them.

love old trucks (not as muchas old tractors) all makes and sizes. I have been working for about year now on a 63 C60 stub nose . I have added 35 inches to the cab and put it on a 86 winnabgo frame. It will be powered by a 6BT cummins.

Here's a series of pictures showing the 91 Ford. Needed body work - left door and fender replaced and repainted. I've added a new set of those protective moldings along in the dark colored paint and of course the box needs work but that won't happen.

Here's a photo of the 1949 Chev. It's getting lots of new "clothes" as time and money are available. A well used truck on the farm in North Dakota before my dad gave it to me in 1986. It's been in the family since 1959. It's in running order, was run hard and "put away wet".

Oh Ron I sure love the "49" Advance Design Chevrolet, my Grandpa had one, his was a 3/4 ton with side boards up from the pickup box, it was Forest Green with the chrome grill and door handles, man I love that truck, but it was sold before I was driving.

Hope you post yours again as you work continues you really have a family treasure there.
