Started painting the 931 yesterday. Got all the small stuff done. Started painting the chasis today. got the front wheel bearings from John this morning, so I put the hub back on with all new innards. I still have to pull the LH rear wheel and hub. The axle seal started leaking after I got all the greese and crap pressure washed off. It would have been nice if it leaked when I had the wheel and tire off last winter.
Geezze always something. I have sprayed 5qts of power red on this tractor already and need another to finish painting the new steps. 3pt lift links, and do touch up on all the parts and peices once they are bolted back on the tractor. This new synthetic paint doesn't go very far. Directions call for 4 to 1 ratio. It was too thin and didn't cover well. I ended up just dribbling in a couple of tablespoons of thinner per batch in the spray gun.

They must have thought you were on the "wac" when they drove by, I would know that after doing all that work, you had a few "pops".

She is looking good from here

Loren - Looks really nice. I have a 1973 770 all ready to shoot but the dam weather won't cooperate. Guess I will move something's around and due it inside. Now I don't feel to bad, I thought I was the only one that hung parts all over on wire to paint them. We have those dam cottonwood trees around here and they are releasing there seeds, which looks like it is snowing. That will mess up a paint job real quick!!!

Dan, I had a problem when I finished up today. Yesterday afternoon our former head mechanic Terry who has helped me with this project stopped by and we kinda finished off my weeks supply of barley pops, and watched paint dry, so I had to settle for canned ice tea tonight. HeHe, Tomarrow is grocery day though, so the shop frig will get restocked.

I was haveing some issues with the white birch trees dropping their seed pods yesterday and the wind dedided to blow when I started painting. The wires holding the parts started wiggling their way to the bottom of the sag in the pipe. The air intake pipe made a pretty nice sounding chime when one of the other peices hit it. HeHe.

Loren,
I now know that retirement next year will not come soon enough. I have been sitting back and have made some observations. 1st a tractor. 2nd a plan of what you want to accomplish with the tractor, and 3rd enacting that plan. I take it the wind chimes were not a part of the plan .HEE

Loren ,
It sure L@@Ks good ... can I ask about how many coats did it take to cover that good ?? how long did you wait between coats ??
I have a tug in pcs and needs to be sandblast then paint .... use what I have around here to hold the small parts , kind of like your set up ..

Looks good and keep the pic's coming ................. mark

Mark, I don't really count coats. I look for misses and thin spots. It took me about 4 hrs. to make it from front to rear of the tractor. I always try to keep a "wet edge" and keep moveing, if that make sense to you. I started at the front spraying the belly and then up the sides to top, till I got to the back.
