Thanks guys for the info on the most popular Case tractor, it makes for fun conversation. Now on another subject, in the mid 70's if memory serves me correctly I think CASE was the largest seller of 4wd's for a couple years. I do remember JD dealers being disappointed when the 8430 and 8630's were new that they they did not make them a 4 wheel steer to compete with CASE. To bad CASE could not take advantage of another good start they had with those tractors. Can anyone confirm if they were no. 1 for a while. Rod.

Rod, they did outsell any other brand in 75 and 76 for sure production #'s peaked in those years, I know I have it in black and white some where but it is eluding me right now

I sold a few new "2470"s & "2670"s, and remember that comment they were #1 in sales for a while, and when they went to the Minot State fair, they "kicked" everyone else's butt in tractor pulls ("2670")

I remember a tractor pull in the late 70's. A 2470 had pulled 1/2 way down the track and was spinning out. The driver crabbed the rear end to the side and the tractor took off like there was nothing behind. Continued to do a full pull. Everyone was really impressed! I think that tractor is the 2470 that casecollectorsc owns today.

the case dealer in Ft Smith Arkansas was the #1 case 4x4 seller in the early 80's which was rather surprising. The only large grain farms in West Arkansas at that time was a ribbon of farms that followed the Arkansas river over to the delta. The dealer said he believed it was because most other farmers in grain country had already bought up what they needed. He won a cruise every year for a while there. When the merger occurred, IH dealer was offered but passed up the dealership and went JD so the case guy got it. He got in trouble financially and went under. no dealer near by now. Was a time when case tractors were pretty strong here.

My Dad bought a new 1470 in when they first came out. I was about 13 if I remember correctly, maybe 12, but I spent a lot of hours on it. It was the first 4wd around for quite a ways and I can remember still local farmers coming out to where I would be driving it in the field and stop me (thinking it was my Dad) and want to look at it. Couple of them I took a few times around the field so they could see it run. If you don't think a young kid could swell with pride giving a couple of those older farmers rides I can guarantee you different. I'm sure they got a kick out of me telling them all I knew about it, which wasn't much. I could crab steer that thing down the field with the best of them (when my Dad wasn't around).

After about 2-3 years it was traded on a new 2470. I thought that cab was as nice as our house..lol! It was much improved comfort wise anyway - Bob

Dan I went to one of the first farm fest and they had a 4wd pull. A fellow named Andy Main pulled a 2470 and kicked every else butt. I will never forget that as a young guy out of high school. Rod.

Rod, I had some "friends" that doubted the "2670", and I will put it as politely as I can, but I took it out and kick their butt, it didn't matter what tractor it was, I kicked A__ with the 26. My Dad was in his prime, and he loved when I got a "challenge" I knew when the "2670" was starting to smoke, she was just getting ready too run. And when it was black, hehe, she was ready to win. We didn't have tracks or skids, nothing fancy, just chisel plow, pull to the death. The 26 never died. Dad and I sold 26's. The other competitors stayed out of our area.
It was hard when that tractor in her later years 10,000 hours power shift out, and just to much to fix, like a old horse, you know what needs to be done, I drove her onto the salvage mans truck, myself. Engine running perfectly, she didn't falter,, I regret that day... to this day.
