I have a late 1370 the transmission temp
keeps climbing even when just driving it
down the road or pulling disk. It takes
about a hour or so to get upto the
red.discount the temp sender and temperature
go down looks to be new sending unit. Just
bought tractor last fall.ideas on were to
start. Will probably flow test first.

I had the same problem with my 1370. I started out changing the sending unit and that didn't help so I borrowed an infared thermometer and actually did not have a problem at all so I changed the gauge and all is good now. I assume you have checked the obvious things

Make sure the area between the radiator and transmission cooler is clean for air flow. likes to collect everything in between there.

Rod is the expert but I will share with you what happened to my 1370 regarding rear end temp.

My 1370 ran into the edge of the red because the bronze washers behind the axle gears in the differential were gone and caused a heat build-up.

It took about 2 hours for it to build unless I was pulling a big disk.

I pulled the differential and purchased an updated cage with the large full size bronze washers.

The cage can be upgraded with modest machine work and cutting the washer in a certain way to allow them to fit. The machine work was done by Brian at Elmers repair.

Elmer had me buy the left axle gear but I found out later I didnt need the gear if I removed the proper amount of metal from the left side of the cage. Which is about .060 of an inch.

Since the up-grade I havent had an issue with heat. I can actually work almost all day baling hay or doing other light work and never heat up the rear end.

It could possibly be that you have warped steels in a power shift clutch pack causing all the friction and heat in the transmission. Had a similar problem with my 1370 and you could hardly hold your hand on the rearend because of the temp of it. But I would check all the simple things first. Good luck and keep us posted!

First make sure it is getting hot, if you can not hold your hand on the lower belly because of heat, then it is likely getting hot. Many possibilities, hydraulics not canceling, dragging brakes, slipping clutch packs, oil cooler needs cleaning. Rod.

I work for the case construction dealer and have learned to do the simple things first.was supposed to have a complete service when I bought it. Complete and done correctly? So I will probably change oil and filters first and go from there
