Hi guys, I usually post around on the IH forum, but I have a question I figure would be better answered here. I have an opportunity to buy a 730 LP from a family member. He's always taken care of it. I have worked on it some for him, tune ups and the like. First question is, whats a fair price? Tires are fair to good, sheet metal is in good shape. Just all around pretty good shape. Second question, would I be better served to convert it to gasoline? I have good gas delivered to the farm for my Farmall and Ford, but I also use propane to heat and cook with at the house. Just have never fooled around with a Case much and I thought you all seemed like nice enough guys and might be able to help. Anyway, I'll quit rambling.

Thanks,

Mac

Check with your LP supplier and see if they will stop and fill when needed. Problem may be they may want to charge a significant service fee every time. Especially since they will not be delivering 250 gal. gobble

Congratulations on getting a Case! Deciding what is fair is pretty hard to do, but I'll take a stab at it and Say somewhere around $2500-3000. The LP part of it is pretty neat for shows and parades and it sure runs cooler and cleaner. Your propane company can rig you up with a way to fill it from your own tank, if you decide to keep it on propane. Good Luck! Don

Is it a Eagle Hitch tractor or a Comfort King Draftomatic tractor?? I did drill a hole in the propane tank on my 800 and threaded it and put in a sediment bowl and carb. and run it on gas. A later Comfort King tractor would be worth more than a early one.

Just leave it on propane, L.P. is always going to be cheaper than, gasoline,Per Gallon,i realize there's less BTU's in LP, and you are going to use more of it!

It's a draft o matic hitch. Not sure on the year. It's a 60's model is all I know. Judging by the replies I think I'll leave it LP for now. Seat is fair, and it has a hideous belly pan under it that'll come off first thing. Trying to work a trade on it, but dunno yet. Ill let you all know. Thanks guys.

I changed my 800 to gas because it had burned from the tank forward while the previous owner was fueling it. Burned the regulator and carb. beyond repair, so the simplest way to get it running was turn it into a gas tractor. We do have a propane DC and 930 row crop on propane.

5 years ago an older guy brought an 830 ck LP to our show's consignment auction, it was in nice shape with very good rubber, looked like a good honest tractor, it brought $1800 or 1900, he looked to be disappointed and maybe I don't blame him, I think the fact that it was LP hurt it(not necesary a bad thing and that fact discouraged me from bidding, we never had an LP tractor and we would have had to get set up for it

If you can get the tank filled I would sure leave it lp. The fuel will never go bad and the engine will stay clean. If you have to work at getting fuel to it, then it might be a different story. If you have a propane tank for your house it can be made to have a wet leg, even may already. Not hard to fill them. You very well might like lp. Bob
