case sc hyd pump

my sc had weak hyd never would lift small digger or disc or the 620 grain drill lifts the 9ft mower slowly. is there a fix or not just wondering
thanks loren

The SC uses a 15 GPM Pump, 20 GPM was an option, no slouch in that area. Cylinder size could be a factor as the SC uses a "Low Pressure" System, 900 PSI, but will easily generate 1500 PSI by shimming the relief valve as you did. I have seen relief valves with broken springs, and even assembled wrong, so closely scrutinize yours. I have also seen the filters disintegrated and plugging the intake.

I would suggest picking up a pressure gauge, a 3000psi gauge is sold at almost any ag supply outfit. Here in MN, Fleet Farm. Fleet Supply + the myriad of other suppliers make this readily available. It will let you know what you're dealing with.

I had an issue with mine when I first got it the intake screen had been sucked in on one side letting a lot of crud in it. The fluid hadn't been changed in years and the oil pickup intake sets close enough to the bottom to suck up any thing in there I found a small roller bearing About 3/32 dia. inside the pump chewed to pieces. The Roller bearing came from the PTO CLUTCH AND STUB SHAFTS NEEDLE BEARING PTO pilot. This is a Late model 560000 and up. The retaining clip was half on and half off and allowed 3 bearings to migrate in to the sump one being sucked in to the pump itself
If you do pull the pump remember remove the filter on the right hand side first, If its a later model the hyd filter breaks very easily.
Best of luck Byron

ok well its got a new filter cartirige in it cardboard felt like thing new oil

where do i hook the pressure gauage at right in the outlets??

i thought a bigger ram would help so i got a pretty big one 4inch maybe go bigger yet?
thanks guys

Might want to pull the pump and see if it is wore out. Have seen more than one never had the oil changed needle bearings wore out pump gears eaten into the cast center section ate up etc. Tom

OK Loren Ill try to answer this for ya. The gauge should go on the end of the Hose that went to the bottom of the ram. Now the reason you wouldn't hook it to the pump itself is because there's no way to relive the pressure. Pressurized hyd fluid is dangerous. I would put a Tee fitting on the end of the hose that your going to test. in this case the one for the lower end of the ram. Install the gauge at the bottom of the tee now Install a manual check valve like a gas shutoff valve or similar in line with the flow then connect the hose that went to the top of the ram this should be your return line. ( check valve should be between the return hose in this case the top ram hose and the tee) Close the valve to check the pressure and open it to release the pressure. Note: you'll have to run the tractor and pull back the lift lever to pressurize the line.

Hope this helps Byron
