In a previous post Karl H mentions this hose. Surprisingly I needed to replace one this week. Early on in the 90 series CASE used a coiled metal pipe instead of a hose. Either way the function is the same, that being to absorb and cancel some of the noise and vibration caused by the gear pump supplying steering and brakes with oil. I do not no why, but the 20-2290 use a different hose than the 23-2590. The hose for the 23-2590's is NLA from CASEIH. I also do not know what for noise is present without using the hose. I can tell you, if you ever replace one make sure the hose is not contacting the cab after installation. A annoying noise is present if it is.
