In the late forties and fifties did Case leave out drawings and part numbers in their Parts books thinking that certain parts would never wear out I.E. steering bearings or did they have a proprietory microfiche of all part numbers Hope this inquiry is not clear as mud.

what are you looking for? the older parts books like from the letter series you had to look at the description page and not just the illustrations,,, I will see if I can help if I know what you are looking for

Chuck and I were having this discussion. I wonder why this
information was not included I my Service and Parts manuals.
Where did the shop mechanics get their info? The JenSales
copies didn't have this. Pastor John

These items were in the special dealers parts catalogs issued only to dealers, these parts books would contain the case part number and the original OEM part numbers from the company supplying the parts, it allowed them to update a smaller number of parts books only to dealers if the OEM parts numbers changed or they changed venders. It also allowed the dealer too source the bearing locally if needed using OEM numbers.

Usually these bearings are just plain old Timpkin-stye tapered bearings and most any auto parts dealer can get them. Or you can order them yourself from Baum Hydraulics. Don't have their number handy, but a quick Google search will bring it right up. Ask them for a catalog, and you can find bearings, seals, ball bearings by dimension, so if the numbers are unreadable, you can mic them up and find the right number to order.
The numbers on the bearings will be industry wide numbers, so all brands will use these numbers. On RARE occasion, there will be an odd-ball, special shape bearing that might not be available, but 99% of these can be found in multiple places.

I agree,,,, I deal with my local bearing house,,, many years ago when we had the dealership we bought stuff from Baum Iron as it was called then they had/have a Lot of stuff
