Here's a wild one!!

Just got the surprise of my life!! A28264 Sealing Washer that seals the intake Port on the hydraulic pumps on the Comfort Kings jumped from about $12.00, which was overpriced, to a new price of over $48.00!! It is simply a square shouldered, rubber washer!! No justification!!

yes john ,I feel your pain ,,.sad to say we both know the justification for the rip off ,and cnh should be blasted for it .the big boys want to discourage us from repairing these tuf tractors and no doubt hi cost old parts are feeding the stock holders bottomline .. those simple good ol power horses from 40 -60 yrs ago will still be worthy of keeping up long after the modern b-s tractors electric solenoids ,shifting , computerized electronics ,that will fail and exasperate , and ultimately be fence rowed or junkt ,.. while emptying your wallet trying to fix it ,..

John I simply do not get it, Fiat is telling us they do not want to mess with parts for the older tractors unless they are over compensated for their troubles. Does anyone know if Deere and Agco are playing the same game? I was very loyal to CNH and Fiat for purchasing their parts, but I feel betrayed and damn tired of getting ripped off. I really do not believe there is any reason some of the parts to be priced like they are! Rod.

John-

Regardless - you and Chris are the best parts people I have! I think sometimes we expect miracles in finding these old parts.

That really is crazy though.I'll just make sure I'm sitting the next time I call!

Matt

I ordered a distributor cap from John Deere for a Model 60. Carquest said they could not get it. John Deere charged me almost $80!

Well because of the way things are in the agricultural economy right now sales of new equipment are way down. Since they are not making much on sales all of the manufactures are having to make up for the short fall by increasing profit in other areas, therefore they are raising the cost of parts to make up for it.

Rod' John' Is there any recourse? Some parts there are aftermarket replacements, but others must come from CNH, DEERE, AGCO. I know this sounds stupid, but how do they market parts to 3rd world nations? Any cheaper?? gobble

Rod I talked to the folks that I get my parts from here in SD they use to be a case dealer and now do only parts but they are also an agco dealer. She said that on a few items they can get the exact same parts from about 3 sources one example she gave me was a loader valve used by CNH, Agco, and also Bush hog which they are a dealer for also. From CNH its a little over $900, Agco $500, Bush hog 250 for the exact same valve from the same manufacturer only difference is what is printed on the outside of the box it came in. Point being all of the major manufacturers are doing it but right now CNH is the worst ripping us off.

I am sure someone else uses a quad ring that would serve as a replacement, you need to do some research then tell cnh to pi$$ off

Just how much do you think CNH will make by increasing the price that much for a quad ring for a hyd pump in an old tractor??
I don't think it will affect their bottom line.
People who keep these old horses going will find a more reasonable fix.

John, I needed a spring on a throttle lever for a massey with Contenental gas engine. About 3 " long, and 1" dia. There is a second spring inside that spring. I checked with my Ago Dealer. The outer spring was $113.00 and the iner spring was $41.00? Yes I told them to forget it. Dick

Just wanted to mention I ordered a mower blade spindle for my 35 year old, obsolete and low production 60 in. CASE mower deck. Eastman Ingersoll still have it available at a fair price of $68. It has cut threads, a keyway and welding on it. Bet CNH would charge $250-$500 if they were selling that part. Rod.

I was at my dealer today so I asked for a price also. 46.50 here. I talked to the shop manager and he said when CaseIH runs out of parts on the shelf for 40 or 50 years old tractors, they often have to go find a vendor to make more of an obsolete part, sometimes a part nobody has made in decades, and usually a very low number of them compared to the original run. The vendor then knowing CaseIH is out of said part and nobody else is making said part, they then know they can set their own price since they know there's no competition and they put the screws to CaseIH who in turn passes the cost onto the customer. I'm not sticking up for CaseIH and these kind of prices, but it kind of sheds a little light on what goes on sometimes. Other companies who sell the same part may still have inventory of old stock so can hold prices low but will be in the same boat once old inventory is exhausted.
On a similar note, I bought 8 ply tractor tires today cheaper than the exact tire in a 6 ply. I says how can that be? Why would I want a 6 ply for more money? The man shrugged his shoulders and said it just depends on the price we paid at the time we bought the inventory.

Straw Boss , i dont buy that totally, there trying to put the blame of the parts vendor, thats on bids, there's competetion there yet, My example is a Allis Chalmers mower, sickle was about 300.00 BUCKS from Allis almost 20 years ago, we all know Allis dont make their own sickle's. I bought one from C. T. Supply out of De Moines Ia, shipped to my farm farm for 101.00 And they had it on hand, where the Allis parts man said well we have to order it. Well i hope they can order themselves a job, because there the poorest parts people i have ever dealt with. Amen

Sounds like he has a good story to pacify most of the customers. Case wants $52.00 for a dome light switch for a 70 series tractor. Radio shack had a 2-pack for $3.99. Maybe they should buy them from Radio Shack.

I don't buy that totally either. That's why I said "sometimes".
The one that gets me is filters. I've been through the Baldwin plant in Kearney Nb. Air, oil, fuel filters etc. Most are made totally automated by the tens of thousands. Nothing more than a piece of thin steel, a sheet of paper element folded up and some glue yet they get lots of money for them at any dealership, I don't care what brand you drive. Can't be more than a dollar of material in a 100 dollar filter.

I wanted to replace the rusty straps that hold the fuel tank on my 770 project. Each strap is actually two straps bolted together in the middle so I have to order 4 of them. CaseIH wanted 125 per strap so 500 total. My local shop made all 4, cut the steel, drilled the holes and welded the stud bolts to the ends so they are identical to the original all for 50 bucks total. And he sure didn't have the advantage of cutting his costs by mass producing 500 of them.

1" or 3/4" cam lock hose fitting gasket works great even a little thicker been useing them for years less then a doller at the pipe store

The attempted gouging continues. A manure spreader beater bearing @ $77.58, the same bearing for 12.44 @ the bearing warehouse store. I can understand some margin, but this is getting ridiculous. Don

It is the one inch size cam lock gaskets they are a little fatter found they seal better than the case ones the fittins are used on pump hoeses spray out fits tractor supply handles them or you can just buy the rubber gaskets on line for them just look for one inch cam lock gasket hope this helps

jd got investigated for parts price gauging, any chance the justice department would do the same to case? get me the number and I'll call them myself, wouldn't doubt it a bit if fiat is knee deep in the Italian mob

Guys, I'm not sticking up for CNH but I do work at one of their contracted dealers. Here is my view.....We should all at least be thankful that they even show a 45 year old tractor or piece of equipment in their parts system. If any of you have a 2000 model year or older "anything" especially vehicles, try going to buy parts for them at their respective dealers. They will laugh. Don't forget about all the logistics/ storage/ handling these parts go through at the CNH parts depot. Think of the size of the building there would have be to keep and organize every single part for every single machine they ever made...I know times are tough for us all and it is for them as well. They are in the business for making money, not to store and sell parts for antique tractors for the same price from years ago. I hate it too and I get only get 20% after Mark up, so I have to say no to many a purchase as well. When they stop offering the parts all together is when we should worry.

They got you pretty good! GOOGLE "Delco 1913739" to see how bad.

THIS very site has them for $27.75. 'Spose $15 shipping tho?
