780 oil pump-336 engine

I am looking for an oil pump to replace the balancer in a 301 gas engine out of an 870. I have been told one from a 336 in a 780 back hoe will work. Anyone know of one or of a salvage yard that might have one? There was a salvage yard across the river from Cape Girardeau that dealt in construction equipment parts. Are they still in business and does anyone have contact info for them? I am aware that balancers can often be repaired however in this situation I don't want one in the engine.

Why do you want to eliminate the balancer? Are you building a light weight pulling tractor or are you looking for a low cost fix on a tractor to be sold?

Put an oil pump from a 970-1070 in it,you can machine the front main cap to accept it,use longer bolts, shorten the pickup tube and use a braided steel hydraulic hose to feed the oil into the motor

yeah I looked at a 401 single gear pump today out of a 970 looks like it will work, just have to plug the port that feeds the oil into the main saddle and remove the pipe plug in the back to plumb it into the block
