energy cell removal

Any ideas how to remove the energy cell form the head of a Case diesel tractor. Ive tried tapping from behind with a rod,using a screw from the front and nothing seams to work.

Do you have the heads on a bench, If so place a 1/2 inch ball in the tapered opening and a good heavy punch and hammer, drive on the ball, it'll go, done dozens that way, the ball will protect the opening.

I need to remember that tip. I have also heated the area around the cell area. On heads that were total junk, I've cut them out.

And the ball end of an old bent push rod always worked for me.
