1936 Case L

Well been search the past few days and came across a 1936 L. Whichever tractor I go with will be for shows and parades. My questions are: are parts still available for this old of tractor? Will I need a parts tractor? What should a solid offer price be or sale price? Just trying to get my ducks in a row with a game plan. I haven't seen many around here but I haven't been to many shows. Thanks for the help and guidance. Jack

Your approximate location helps to give you some answers. I know of 2 Case L's in North Dakota that might serve as parts tractors.

SWMO is my location. I'm trying to figure out what the 36 L are going for interms of sell price. I'd have to travel a ways and wasn't for sure price to start out at. Was thinking bout half of what he's wanting or should I start at around 75% of what they want. Just trying to figure out a plan. Thanks for the help

Sure depends on if your talking about a
running tractor or something stuck?
Steel wheels or rotten tires that need
replaced?
Good tractor for shows and parades and
tractor pulls but keep in mind it's
maybe too slow if you want to take it
on a tractor drive. I think many of
these organized tractor drives or poker
runs have a rule about being able to
run a minimum of10 mph to keep up. I
don't know how fast an L will go but
most are geared for steel wheels.

You might find someone like myself who prices the item at fair value. Someone starts offering lower prices I say I told you the
price. Next thing if they dont understand what the price is wish him a good day and go in house or shop and close the door/

That's the issue. He's listed it at 2500. Says it runs. The tins look to be in good shape. Doesn't appear to be very many dents n dings. However I can a lot of surface rust. I don't need it to be fast. Just nice and steady for parades. I figured I'd have to rebuild the engine. I just need a price so I have an idea what I'm getting in for. Also not sure if parts are out there for the L series. Thanks for the info.

A picture of the tractor and description would be more in line for pricing , your discription makes me think it is a 500 dollar tractor . The money spent to buy it normally won't fix a fence row tractor , rear tires are over a grand front tires and a clutch a few bearings in the rear end and transmission with a motor job would make that 2500 to start look like pocket change , I don't won't to discourage you but instead would like you to beware that a tractor that is complete but not useable is worth just more than scrap.

Thats just way too high for an L of unknown quality which will have a top speed of 6 maybe 7nmph. I would not waste my time on him. Might consider a DC or LA which will have a much higher road speed. The D or DC will be a lot easier to haul. DC can be hauled with heavy half ton with GOOD trailer brakes. An L or LA will require much tougher truck and heavier trailer. not sure of your location, however a good DC wirh foot clutchand fair tire should be in the !000 dollar range.

Thank you for your information. I think at this time I'm going to pass on the L. I think I'm going to try and find a different Case thats smaller and easier to haul. Thank you for your insight. Jack
