Off with the mechanic hat and on with the farmer one. First things first. Got to get some wetter corn moved before any spoilage occurs. Been prepping tractors and planter in hopes of starting maybe the end of next week.

You can't pull 3 wagons with a tractor in SD and yet you can pull two fully loaded 640 Brent wagons with a pickup. Another law made in the absence of common sense. I have made many trips to Elkton with three wagons behind. The elevator manager once told me I couldn't do that in SD. I told him if it bothers him he better call the cops. Evidentially he never did and I would do it today but my grain goes to ADM or Pipestone Grain on the Mn side of the border. 1050 bushels of corn is no problem at all behind the 2590.

Steve we are hauling with 2 1370's and sets of wagons. We are not going into town with the corn, but delivering it to a neighboring feedlot. Rod.

Doug I have and seen others pull 3 wagons into the Wilmont Elev. and no one has said don't do that. I do not know if it is legal or not. Rod.

Love that "1370" showing off her "stuff" always love when a vehicle veers over a little, as you don't want to mess with that big guy! Great pictures Rod

In Minnesota you can only pull one wagon behind a pickup loaded or empty but a tractor can pull as many as can be controlled as the law says whatever that means. On flat or gently rolling land 3 is not a problem and all of mine have truck tires so the odds of having an undetected flat and ruining a rim is less but still possible. I usually pull 2- J&M 350's and a 375bu Westendorf. Sometimes just 2 if I don't have as much to haul and sometimes ADM will haul it cheap if they need corn at the ethanol plant. I'd like to get 2 bigger wagons so I don't have to pull 3 but a person can buy a truck for what two big wagons cost and if you get one stuck in the field you might as well go get the auger.

I have done the same math that says I can not afford two big wagons and I am happy with my small three. I usually ave. 975 bu and these small boxes are not worth much so heck I will keep using them. Rod.

When I was a kid the Ward elevator was only a mile away so we hauled beans out of the field with 100bu flare boxes. Dad was running a 77 Case back then cutting two rows at a time. With a spike tooth cylinder and a round hole sieve the beans looked like they came out of a seed bag! After that we had to go 8 miles and used S&H wagons with 150 or 175bu. How did we ever get anything done?

Back in the early 70's I pulled two wagons totaling 350 bushels 6 miles to town in the fall with a John Deere A. Four trips was a very good day. Darn near froze my butt off in late November but i am still alive to tell the story. I hauled with that rig for four years. I could barely keep up with a Deere 45 combine in corn. Last fall i was pulling 800 bushels with a Deere 4650 2wd but i wouldnt have wanted more than that behind that tractor on a couple of the hills i had to pull.
