A neighboring Amish guy had this 831C EH for sale. His son helps us up in the sugar bush. He asked if I was interested in buying it.
My dad ordered it in foe one of my uncles, (now deciesed). I have spent about enough on tractors for this year, but it had some sentimental value.
I went over this afternoon and looked it over and drove it. They had a pair of garden tractor bats in it out of their buggies and it started easily. It didn't grind when the inching pedal was depressed to put it in gear, and the direct drive locked up solid. Brakes are great, But PS sucks. (belt loose and all oily. Rear tires hold air, but that's about it. One rear rim needs repair or replaceing.
The oliver fenders have to go, along with that Curtis weather break. The PTO snaps in good and stops when the lever locks down. Seems real good mechanically, and sheet metal is straight.
I offered $1,200.oo for it and he said OK. Maybe I should have offered a grand, HeHe.
Going to drive it home this coming week. It is only 4 miles away.

Loren: Did you get the Top Link & Mount? Glad you made an Amish rescue because from what I have seen, they have no respect, whatsoever for good iron. And.. they love their ether.

I have 2 sets I am not using. If I here of someone looking for a set in your direction, I'll send them your way.

Congarts Loren, I bet we had another future project to look forward watching the rebuild process. I can't wait. Rod.

I think you did good on that buy , running tractor for $1200. , seems like a good deal. Your Amish get to have and drive tractors , with rubber tires even. The Amish near me even make steel wheels for their square balers ,and sure as heck don't have a tractor to pull them with ,lol. Won't be too long before you will have a full stable of 30 series tractors .

We have all versions of Amish around here, and they have come from all over the country. Some even drive black minivans. Yesterday a semi with a single drop trailer went up by with a NH baler on steel, and powered with a gas engine, an engin driven rotary rake on steel and an Ungerfeurth styled perfecta harrow. All new, The fellow I bought the 830 from has a 1086 cab tractor on steel.
