Another 430 Problem

Since we are on the subject of 430 hydraulics I will pose another problem. I am having trouble with the 3 pt on my 430 draft-o-matic. There is a 5-6 second delay when you move the lift lever to the raise position until it responds. Lowers fine with no delay. Engine speed does not affect the delay time. Once it starts to raise it comes up at normal speed and is smooth without any jerking. The lift capacity has not been affected either. The remotes work fine with no delay. Can pull them during the delay and it loads the engine with the normal squeal you hear when they are deadheading. Fluid level is fine, and will easily hold an elevated load overnight. No other apparent problem other than the delay which makes it very aggravating to use with ground engaging equipment. Have not checked pressure due to the ease at which it lifts a heavy load once it starts up. Not being sure what the throttling valve actually does, did try adjusting it but that had no affect. What ever the cause is, it just showed up immediately in use this spring. Was working fine last fall when the 3 pt was last used. All linkage is in good working order. Will welcome any suggestions as to where to start. Lee

Lee,
Your mind is going faster than your 430 can respond. It is getting older, (the 430 I'm talking about). Slow down and be patient. That 60 times a min. adjustement response time, that Case boasted about with the DOM hitch is now history.Getting old is a beach. HeHe.

I know my mental response time has slowed. But what makes this more puzzling is the draft sensing part seems to work. Of course it may be delayed. The load on the tractor remained pretty consistent but you could see the draft control raising and lowering the arms. It just won't raise out of the ground in a timely manner. Lee

Something in the hitch valve is sticking and needs cleaning. My 1370 was doing the same thing. I removed the valve and cleaned everything in It. It worked fine after I put it back on. Have no idea what I did but it cured the problem. Rod.

If you noticed the people who love there case are also very good mechanics. Just being a smart a## I had a300 round nose that I sold that was a mistake wish I sill had it. Randy
