I am looking at a 4490 that the sensor does not allow the rear axle to steer. Is this expensive to remedy? The AC also works poorly so what would be needed there that is typical for that model?

A Re-man sensor from CASE is $756.00. Many checks need to be done to finally determine if it is indeed the sensor. As for the A/C, obviously a full charge of gas is needed fore the AC to work properly. Also, the condenser in front of the radiator needs to be clean. A common problem with the air charge system in those cabs is leaks. The only remedy I know of is to remove the cab top, thoroughly clean everything, blow out the condenser, seal up any leaks where air can escape. All the air being blown forward by the fan needs to be directed through the condenser. Then, clean & re-silicone the top & re-install. Also, there are replacement fans with higher cfm's than the originals, but still, the leaks need to be sealed, and condenser cleaned.

I have a 4690 that gives me fits also. Pi$$ poor system if you ask me. My 2470 is 43 years old and has never caused me any grief and works perfect. The engineers that designed the electronic system should have to go around the country and repair them as there are no techs that understand it or care anymore.
