Case 430 repower

I'm hoping I can find some help here. I have 430 that's not a triple range. It is a 1968 model and has the 148b engine. I love the tractor. I aquired it on a trade in a basket case. I've put it all back together and have been using it for taking hay and such, but I find it is a little light on power. I bought a 201 out of combine to repower it and find it will not work because of the splines for the pto in the end of the crank. My question: is there another crank that I can put in the 201 that will work like out of a 159 or a 188 or etc. etc. Can I make the 201 work at all?

You may want to check the block length, the 201 engine is longer and not a direct drop in but manageable, there should be some ag gas engines equipped with the splined crank some 188s had them. I know some diesel cranks did.

Yeah I know it's 1 1/4" longer. Not a real problem. I'll have make my power steering lines longer and make a spacer block for the front end where if bolts on the bottom of the bell housing.

if you want a 188 diesel ,,.and have 1650bux ,I have a good one here in southern ind with starter and flywheel ,. email open

A good machine shop should be able to cut the spline into the end of the crankshaft.

heythen ,, d case ,,..it never occurred to me to ask a machine shop to spline the crank on my 1965 188diesel ...I bought it in hopes of putting it in front of a 470 rear end ,,. the 470 requires a inner splined match in the crankshaft of the 188 . which the 1967s on up had...

I have local core engine dealer that I have felt with a lot in the past. The owner who is very nolegable says a crank out of a 188 gas or diesel with the pto engagement splines will bolt right into the 201 combine engine. They are all the same block. Thanks all for your input.

Just an update it was a success. I bought a new crank for a 188 with the engagement splines and it worked perfectly. Now I have a 430 super!!
