Cost of a clutch replacement???

I have a 1973 Case 970 with the standard transmission in it with a bad clutch. Just wondering what to expect for a fair worst case/ best case price for parts and labor??? I was refered to a couple of shops near by that have a good reputation (although I have never had work done at either) and have a call into one for a ballpark estemate. It does have a cab if that makes much differance in splitting it. Thanks for your help.

Most of the time a clutch job now means replacing the disc and pressure plate with reman units and installing new pilot and release bearings costing approx $400 for those parts. If that is all that is needed, about 8 hours x shop rate would get you close. Often the flywheel needs surfacing and that would take extra time removing and installing plus the cost of surfacing. While the flywheel is off some owners opt to have the rear crankshaft seal replaced because it requires very little extra time to do so then. Well add on some more parts and labor. Sometimes the trans input seal shows some leakage and that also would add some more labor and parts. Around here a guess would be $1000-$2000 depending on rates and how well the person doing the work knows a Case. Cab does not come off but if equipped with heat or air that stuff has to be disconnected. Rod.
