'53 SC leak at hydraulic shifting shafts, need tips

I have a pretty bad leak where the pair of hydraulic shift levers attach to the vertical shaft that goes into the hydraulic pump cavity. Easy to see, as it rapidly gets wet right where the shaft emerges from the top of the cover. See photos. What am I dealing with to fix this? O rings? if so, standard O rings or special Case order? I'd like to do my homework before I get myself in trouble. And how does the shaft come out? Remove the cover first, I suspect.
Tips appreciated.

Pull the cover off and you will see what has to be done. Not a bad job. I did my 830, and 930 a few years ago. Cannot remember if it was 0-rings, or seals.

does ayone know how to rebuild that style of pump ,,. other than shimming upthe relief spring that's all I know ...

I bought a rebuild seal kit for my 52 SC Hyd valve from John Salei. Had the seals, felts and o rings in the kit. Dick

Thank you all for comments. I might have done business with John Salei, but it's been a while. How do I find him? Seems buying a gasket/O-ring kit might be the smart thing to do.

I'll try to find photos of the inside of the hyd. pump before I crack it open.

Dick is right there's an o ring and a felt seal at the top also the two shafts separate and there's another o ring on the smaller shaft that slides into the larger one when you get it Separated you'll see what I mean. John S has the kits The shaft usually has corroded were the felt and o ring go on at the top. You may need to put some JB weld on the outer shaft and smooth it down to bring it back to the right diameter to repair it if its real bad.
Hope this helps Byron

if your just doing the shaft pull the 4 slotted screws out of the cover remove the cover (some Residual oil may come out). Inside there's only one slotted screw that is squeezing a clamp that holds the two shafts in place you will have to pull or push the shaft arms forward or backward to get a screwdriver on the that screw. Remove the screw, then just pull up on the shaft to get it out.

Wonderful! Thank you. And I got Salei's ph #. So if I do only the shaft as you described, I still need O-rings and a felt made for it. (As in: not NAPA stuff)

Personally I used O rings from the ace hardware and felt from an old saddle blanket but that was some time ago. I needed a quick fix so I could blade the road. It was ok for some time but a real pain in the you know what to cut that felt seal. I'm going to buy the kit because of leaks in the paper thin .0015 gaskets on the left and right sides it also has 2 o rings on each side and I already have the I think it was 6 ball bearings that control the oil flow because some of them were corroded. I just don't want any more problems with it.

Best of luck with it Byron
