Loren, I have never had any of those apart before. The 400 I have has never been torn down that I know of. I remember using it up thru the 80's before it was parked. Has been sitting a long time now and believe it to be stuck. Is it possible to revive her and not have to do this step. Thanks,Bill
 
Bill, You never know until things are disasembled. Other than poor radiator maintance and fan belt tension, cooling problems are usually an indicator of compression leaks into the cooling system resulting from the fuel cells blowing through, to head gasket problems, and cracked heads, most of which stem from poor maintainance practices.
