David Brown 3 pt hitch hydraulic problem

I have a 990 DB selectomatic that has a problem
with the 3 pt hitch. When I start it up the 3 pt hitch
goes all the way to the top with the control lever all
the way down. The problem began when my
nephew knocked off the weld stop located on the
control holder. Subsequently the 3 pt went up to the
top and remained there. I took the control valve
housing to a Case dealer but all they knew to do
was clean it.
 
If your selector knob is in the TCU selection, and you push the position control lever forward in the quadrant where the blue decal is the hitch arms will rise. Pull your position lever all the way back, and then further against the spring, and then while holding it there turn the selector knob to position control (red) and see if everything works properly then.
