W3 Spindle adjustment?

How tight do you make the nut here? Its a spindle on my 1961 W3. I added some washers to tighten the male spline of the spindle up into the female spline of the steering arm? I figure so it still rotates freely?

(quoted from post at 23:05:21 03/11/16) Do you post from phone or computer?

I post from my iPhone 5, and have not figured out how to change camera settings on my iPhone. So coping photos off phone onto laptop. Ressizing on laptop. Then uploading to photobucket. I missed a [ on my first post or picture would be on left.

Monday I am going to turn my nut on the top of the spindle into a castle nut. Next going to tighten nut up so any up & down slop is removed. Looks like there is three bearings in there. Very bottom one I expect is a "load bearing" bearing. Then inside spindle rotates an lower and upper needle bearing. Since I can't find any service procedures I am suspecting tighten nut up so there is no up and down slop and arm female spline is as snug as it can be on male spline of spindle. So if anyone reads this that is mechanically inclined as I or has more knowledge than me would be appreciated. Thankyou in advance.

There are shims under arm so I will remove or subtract as needed so splined parts are tight as possible. And the load bearing bearing or thrust bearing I believe are ball bearings? I'll have a closer look when I take it apart Monday!

I found my parts list for the W3 today - the spindle bearings are roller cages-Starting at the bottom going up A washer - Thrust bearing (Ball or roller not sure ,but I think a ball bearing thrust then a washer next the roller cage then a spacer and so forth to the top. I don't think you want to try to take slack by shimming the spindle tight because the rollers don't want to be cramped tight (maybe very little play ,up and down a couple thou.maybe) I opened my reply so you can email me and I'll get in touch with you.
