I am getting ready to put sleeves in my Case 401 Round nose Diesel. I am wondering if there is anything I should remember to do, or any "tricks of the trade" that I need to know.

The most critical thing is to check the protrusion of the sleeve above the top of the block. Do this before you put the orings on. If I remember correctly it should be around 0.004" plus or minus 0.001". It can vary a little but try to make both cylinders on each head the same. Check the counter bores in the block where the orings on the bottom of the sleeve will seat. You do not want any pits or sharp edges. Make sure there isn't any crud in the bottom of the water space of the block or in the passageway from the water pump to the cylinders. Be very abundant with the lube for the orings when you put the sleeves in.
