Is This Worth Saving?

How hard will it be to save this tractor? What is it worth as is?

ihcowoner, I think you are jumping to conclusions base on little to NO facts. We don't know if it runs, or anything about the tranny and hyds. For all we know the hood is setting in a corner.
It could be an easy fix or a nightmare. Need to know about it's history and when and why it was parked.

Loren, I have seen some nice clean straight CASE tractors parted out simply because the powershift was bad. The owners hear all these stories that they take 5-10 grand to fix them and sell them as in a 2470 parked in my shed. That tractor above although can be saved, if you had to pay someone to do the work you would have way more money in it than you could buy a nice running one for. I have fixed a couple fire damaged ones and they always seem to take more money and time than was figured on. Rod.

Is it a 23/2590? Decent 23/2590's don't bring a terrible lot of money. You are going to have plenty into it if you want a cab with glass and an interior. Unless it's really cheap I'd pass. I don't like to buy a "cat in a sack" so to speak.

Loren I think it is because we just hate to give up on our favorite colors. Dang, as I mentioned earlier our local salvage has killed some very nice tractors. I hate to see that happen, but I just have to look the other way and realize we can't save them all. Rod.

What was the tractor's condition and value before the fire? Low hours, high hours recent engine or transmission overhaul?

I suspect if you have to buy each part individually and replace each part one at a time you could have much more invested than what you would pay for a field ready tractor.

If the transmission is still good you might look for a similar parts tractor with a bad transmission and make one good tractor out of the two. If you can swap whole complete modules (cab, front half, and rear half) the labor hours may not be to bad. You should be able to sell the remainder to offset some of your costs.
