1030 Hydraulics - What am I missing?

I have a 1030 with weak hydraulics. Shows 900psi at WOT. Remotes and 3pt both weak. I took the remote block off and changed out o-rings on relief valve - nothing broke, looked good. I also took the side caps off and no obvious issues. Took the draft valve off and it looks good - shuttle valve was free. Figured it was the pump and spent a fortune on that and still not working.

Thoughts? Thanks.

The pump can be flow tested to determine if it is the problem. If that is OK oil is being leaked away in the remote valve. The remote can have a internal leak causing your problem like a crack. Simply replacing the oring in the relief does not mean that is OK. There is a seat in the relief that can be causing leakage. If the remote levers want to return to the neutral position before the set relief pressure is reached means there is some relief leakage. Rod.

I'm sure the new CIH Pump is fine.

The levers do return to center immediately. Started up once this issue began. The pressure doesn't go directly to 900 it comes up slowly and then holds there. I guess I'll take the remote block apart again, check the relief and pull spools out all the way.

I bet the problem is with your relief. A factory service manual will show the parts better than I can describe. Clean and inspect that area. If there is damage to the main body it has to be pulled out and replaced.

That's what I was thinking, but I'm not seeing a problem. Do I need to look at the PRV insert? How do I get that out?

Sorry.

Yeah there are two O-rings in the bore of the PRV - I remember because they are tricky getting in there. I don't think there is supposed to be one on the piston.

That Poppet should slide easily out of that spool. A critical spot that has to seal is the edge on the spool that
Is pointing up in your pic. That edge should be free of burrs and chips as well as the seat it seals against that is still in the valve. Rod.

Rod, I believe that oring shown on the retainerin his hand is to large, there is no oring up that high, the proper oring fits down in the top of the sleeve and seats on the taper shown on top of the spring, in fact it is the same PN as the one down in the plunger bore with the BU ring, just dd a 970 last week and that picture shown does not look right to me.

I took the o-ring that I had on the poppet off and put it in the bore loose. I also made sure the pilot was going down in the poppet. I don't know what did it but it's working now. The PRV must have been bad to begin with and then I put it back together wrong.

Just wanted to give you an update and thank you for your time.

Chris

Good,

It is supposed to be down in the bore and is not loose when the tapered part of the retainer traps it in place. If that o ring blows as is not uncommon the prv acts as yours did. Glad you got it solved, I knew if you had it assembled as the photo why it didn't work. All is well that ends well!

hoo -ray!,,.. I would bet I was not the only one watching over your shoulders to learn all I could about case hydraulics
